The Inquiry and Advisory Committee (IAC) involved in the Hexham Wind Farm EES and planning approvals has now submitted its final report to the Minister for Planning.
The Minister for Planning appointed the independent IAC to advise on the environmental effects and planning merits of the proposed Hexham Wind Farm Project in February 2026. The IAC held a Directions Hearing on 31 March 2026 to make arrangements for a public hearing. The public hearing followed and ran for four weeks concluding on 22 May 2026. The IAC then considered all submissions, presentations and evidence presented to inform its report and recommendations to the Minister for Planning on the Environment Effects Statement and planning permit application. The report was submitted to the Minister for Planning on 16 July 2026.
The Minister for Planning will now consider the IAC’s report and is expected to make a determination on the project (a decision on whether to approve or reject the application) in the coming months.
